Amazon Handmade fees explained for 2026

Amazon Handmade charges one seller fee: a 15% referral fee on each product sold, or a $1.00 per-item minimum, whichever is greater. There is no separate listing fee and no percentage that varies by category. This guide sets out that schedule as Amazon publishes it, with examples computed by the same engine as the Amazon Handmade fee calculator. What Amazon Handmade charges

One rate covers all ten Handmade categories — Accessories, Apparel, Baby, Beauty and Personal Care, Home, Jewelry, Pet Supplies, Shoes, Sports, and Toys and Games — which is the main way Handmade differs from the wider Amazon schedule, where the category is the thing that moves the number most.

On a $100 item, the fee on $100.00 is $15.00 and you keep $85.00, an effective rate of 15%.

Amazon also states that the Professional selling plan's monthly charge is waived for approved Handmade sellers, so on the verified schedule the referral fee is the whole of what a seller pays per sale.

The per-item minimum, and where it bites

Amazon's wording is that the referral fee "is either a flat percentage rate or a per-item minimum fee, whichever is greater". Fifteen per cent only reaches a dollar at about $6.67, so everything cheaper than that pays the flat $1.00 instead — and the cheaper the item, the harder that lands.

On a $5 item, where the minimum takes over, the fee on $5.00 is $1.00 and you keep $4.00, an effective rate of 20%. On a $7 item, just above the crossover, the fee on $7.00 is $1.05 and you keep $5.95, an effective rate of 15%.

Two dollars of price separate an effective 20% from a flat 15%, which is a strong argument for bundling very small items rather than listing them one at a time.

Amazon's own pages disagree about the minimum

This is the one place to be careful. Amazon's Seller Central policy article for Handmade states a $1.00 per-item minimum for every category. Amazon's Handmade programme page, aimed at sellers considering the programme, states a lower minimum for the same fee. The general Amazon referral-fee schedule does not list Handmade at all, so it settles nothing.

The calculator uses the seller-facing policy article's $1.00, because that is the document that governs what you are charged, and the platform's confidence is held at medium for exactly this reason. Above about $6.67 the disagreement makes no difference at all, because the percentage is what you pay.

Pricing so you keep a round number

The referral fee comes out of the sale price, so adding 15% to your target lands short.

To keep $100.00 you charge $117.65, and the fee is $17.65.

What this guide leaves out

The verified schedule is the referral fee on the US marketplace, in US dollars.
