OnlyFans fees explained: what it takes in 2026
By Fees.tools · Updated · Fees verified
OnlyFans charges 20% of every fan payment and pays the creator the remaining 80%. It is a subscription-content business with the shortest fee schedule on this site: one rate, one currency, no tiers, no fixed fee and no separate processing line. This guide sets out what that rate covers and what it does not, with worked examples computed by the same engine as the OnlyFans fee calculator. The rate is quoted from the OnlyFans Terms of Use, cross-checked against the separate Contract between Fan and Creator, and was verified on 5 September 2026.
What OnlyFans charges
| What it applies to | Fee |
|---|---|
| Every fan payment: subscriptions, paid messages, tips, livestream payments | 20% |
| Anything else on the published schedule | None |
The Terms put it in one sentence: the fee "is calculated as 20% of the total Fan Payment and will be deducted from each Fan Payment". There is no listing fee, no payout fee, no percentage that changes with volume, and no fixed amount per transaction. Whatever a fan pays, four fifths of it reaches the creator's balance.
On a $100 fan payment, the fee on $100.00 is $20.00 and you keep $80.00, an effective rate of 20%.One rate covers every kind of payment
The schedule draws no distinction between the ways money can arrive. A monthly subscription, a pay-per-view message, a tip and a payment during a livestream are all Fan Payments, and all are charged at the same 20%. That is why the calculator offers no payment-type selector: adding one would invent a distinction the Terms do not make.
It also draws no distinction by country. All Fan Payments and Creator Earnings are transacted in US dollars whoever the fan is, so there is no international rate, no currency-conversion line and no separate schedule for a creator outside the United States.
On a $9.99 monthly subscription, the fee on $9.99 is $2.00 and you keep $7.99, an effective rate of 20.02%. On a $50 tip, the fee on $50.00 is $10.00 and you keep $40.00, an effective rate of 20%.Because the rate is a flat percentage with no fixed component, the effective rate is the same at every price point — unlike a platform that adds a fee per transaction, where small payments cost proportionally more.
Pricing so you keep a round number
Twenty per cent of the gross is more than twenty per cent of the net, so adding 20% to the figure you want to keep lands short. Work backwards instead:
To keep $100.00 you charge $125.00, and the fee is $25.00.The calculator's "I want to net" mode does the same for any amount, which is useful when pricing a custom request or a bundle around a target payout.
What the 20% does not cover
The fee schedule describes what OnlyFans deducts. It says nothing about what happens to the money afterwards, and two costs sit outside it:
- Your bank or e-wallet. Receiving a payout may cost you a fee charged by your own provider. OnlyFans neither sets nor discloses it.
- Currency conversion. Earnings settle in US dollars. If you hold another currency, your provider's conversion charge applies on top, and again it is not an OnlyFans fee.
Neither is priced here, because neither is on the schedule this site verifies. Any figure claiming otherwise would be a guess about a third party.
How it compares
Two other subscription-content businesses publish comparable schedules. Patreon charges a platform percentage that depends on the plan, plus payment processing — run a payment through the Patreon fee calculator to see how the two lines stack up. Substack fees explained: what it takes in 2026 covers a platform whose headline percentage is much lower but which passes the processor's fee through separately. A single all-in 20% is easier to plan around than a percentage plus processing; whether it is cheaper depends entirely on the other platform's processing line.
When this rate last changed
The schedule was first verified on 5 September 2026, so the OnlyFans fee changelog holds one entry; every later change is added there with the date and the rule affected, and the rate is re-checked every 60 days.
Confidence is high. The 20% in the Terms of Use is restated exactly in the Contract between Fan and Creator, which defines the same charge as "the 20% of all Fan Payments charged to Creators in accordance with the Terms of Use". Two OnlyFans documents, one figure. The methodology explains how that judgement is made, and if the rate here disagrees with your own statement, report it.
Frequently asked questions
How much does OnlyFans take?
20% of every fan payment, deducted before the balance reaches the creator. The remaining 80% is the creator's earnings.
Does OnlyFans take 20% of tips as well as subscriptions?
Yes. Tips, paid messages and livestream payments are Fan Payments under the same clause as subscriptions, and all four are charged at the same rate.
Are there other OnlyFans fees?
Not on the published schedule: no fixed fee per transaction, no payout fee and no separate payment-processing line. Charges from your own bank or e-wallet, including currency conversion, are outside it.
What currency does OnlyFans pay in?
US dollars. Fan Payments and Creator Earnings are both transacted in dollars, which is why this calculator prices in dollars and offers no currency selector.
