TikTok Shop fees explained: 2026 rates

By Fees.tools · Updated · Fees verified

TikTok Shop takes one cut of a sale and names it differently by market: a referral fee of 6% in the United States, a commission fee of 9% in the United Kingdom. Nothing is charged for payment processing on top. Every rate below is quoted from TikTok Shop's Seller Academy, verified on 3 September 2026, and drives the TikTok Shop fee calculator, which computed every example here.

What TikTok Shop charges

The rate is chosen by what you sell, not by how the buyer pays.

MarketCategoryRate
United StatesMost categories6%
United StatesReduced-rate jewelry sub-categories5%
United StatesCollectibles, trading cards and cultural items6%, then 3% above $10,000
United StatesPre-owned bags, watches, footwear and fashion5%, then 3% above $10,000
United KingdomMost categories9%
United KingdomElectronics and Beauty & Personal Care5%

The US rate rose to 6% on 1 April 2024, with the jewelry and pre-owned reductions following on 31 October 2024; the UK policy has applied since 18 September 2025. The referral fee covers "all TikTok Shop fees, with the exception of shipping and tax fees" and UK rates include VAT, so the calculator's single line is the whole platform charge. UK reductions never stack — one per product, driven by the product's own category, so a miscategorised listing pays the standard 9%.

What the rate is charged on

Not the sticker price. In the US the base is the customer payment plus any platform discount, minus tax; in the UK it is net sales plus customer-paid shipping plus any platform discount, minus refunds. Both come to the same thing: your listing price, less your own seller discount, plus the shipping the buyer paid. Platform discounts cancel out, being subtracted and then added straight back.

TikTok Shop's own examples show it. The US sample takes a $102 customer payment, adds a $5 platform discount and removes $2 of tax:

On TikTok Shop's $105 US base, the fee on $105.00 is $6.30 and you keep $98.70, an effective rate of 6%.

The UK policy's first example prices £100 shoes with a £10 seller discount, a £10 platform discount and £5 of customer-paid shipping — a £95 base:

On TikTok Shop's £95 UK base, the fee on £95.00 is £8.55 and you keep £86.45, an effective rate of 9%.

Its second example adds a computer to the order, at the reduced Electronics rate on a £1,550 base:

On the computer in the same order, the fee on £1,550.00 is £77.50 and you keep £1,472.50, an effective rate of 5%.

Fees are charged per item, not per order, so a mixed basket pays each item's own rate: work out each line and add them.

The $10,000 break on high-value resale

Collectibles and Pre-Owned are the only tiered categories, and the tier is graduated: the lower rate applies only to the portion of a sale above $10,000, not the whole sale.

On a $20,000 Collectibles sale, the fee on $20,000.00 is $900.00 and you keep $19,100.00, an effective rate of 4.5%.

That is 6% of the first $10,000 plus 3% of the second, so the effective rate falls as the sale grows. It matters to a card breaker or a watch dealer, and to nobody selling below the threshold.

Pricing so you keep a round number

Because the fee is a percentage of the base, adding 6% to what you want to keep is not enough: it is charged on the total, including the part that covers it.

  • A US sale in most categories: To keep $100.00 you charge $106.38, and the fee is $6.38.
  • A UK sale in most categories: To keep £100.00 you charge £109.89, and the fee is £9.89.

The calculator's "I want to net" mode solves this for any amount and category.

What this guide leaves out

  • The new-seller promotion. The US policy refers to promotional plans for new sellers without stating a rate or a duration, and the Seller Academy articles that would were unreachable when this schedule was checked.
  • The refund administration fee. On a refund, TikTok Shop returns the referral fee but keeps 20% of it, capped at $5 per SKU since 15 May 2025. It is a percentage of the fee rather than of the sale, and the calculator prices completed sales, so it is not modelled.
  • Reported 2026 US increases. Some third-party seller blogs report a higher US referral fee this year. The official pages captured on 3 September 2026 show no such change, and no rate here is written from a third-party summary.
  • Fulfilment, advertising, shipping and tax charges, billed separately from the referral fee.

When these rates last changed

This schedule was first verified on 3 September 2026 against TikTok Shop's US referral-fee policy and its category breakdown, and the UK Commission Rate Policy and "Platform Commission Fee" article. Each market's two official pages agree on every rate, so confidence is high. The TikTok Shop fee changelog records later changes with their dates, the methodology explains how verification works, and rates are re-checked at least every 60 days. If a figure disagrees with what TikTok Shop shows you, report it.

Frequently asked questions

Does TikTok Shop charge a listing fee?

No. The published seller fee is the referral or commission fee on a completed sale; there is no charge to list. That is unlike eBay, which adds a per-order fee to the category rate — see how eBay's fees work — or Etsy, which charges to publish each listing.

Is the TikTok Shop fee taken from the seller or the buyer?

From the seller. In the UK it comes out of the order settlement; in the US, settlement follows delivery once no refund or return request is open, above a $1 payout threshold.
