Every rule on Apple App Store’s official schedule for United States, the market this calculator covers, as of 3 September 2026. “Reduced” means a participant in the App Store Small Business Program, the Mini Apps Partner Program or the Video Partner Program, or an auto-renewable subscription after the subscriber's first year. The EU rows are the unified business terms Apple states take effect on 1 October 2026, under a developer agreement updated 18 August 2026; developers may stay on their current terms until they agree to the update. The Core Technology Commission replaces the App Store commission on sales outside the App Store rather than adding to it.
European Union is not in the calculator yet: every rate published for it takes effect on 1 October 2026.

Apple states that a participant who passes that threshold during the current year pays the standard rate on future sales, and can re-qualify for the 15% rate the year after proceeds fall back below it. The programme covers paid apps and in-app purchases.
Does Apple's commission drop after a subscriber's first year?
- Yes, for auto-renewable subscriptions. During a subscriber's first year of paid service the developer receives 70% of the price; once that subscriber accumulates one year of paid service the share rises to 85%, which is a 15% commission. On a $9.99 monthly renewal that is $3.00 in the first year and $1.50 after it, so the developer keeps $6.99 then $8.49. The clock is per subscriber and resets if they cancel and later re-subscribe; a Small Business Program participant receives 85% from the first billing cycle.
What does Apple charge in the EU from 1 October 2026?
- Four rates, depending on how the payment is processed and whether the developer qualifies for the reduced tier: 26% on sales processed by Apple In-App Purchase, 15% for programme participants and subscriptions after their first year, 20% on sales processed by an alternative payment provider inside the app, and 10% for the reduced tier using alternative processing. On €100.00 that is €26.00, €15.00, €20.00 and €10.00 respectively.
What is the Core Technology Commission, and does it stack with the App Store commission?
- It does not stack: it replaces it. The Core Technology Commission is 5% on digital sales in apps distributed outside the App Store in the EU — through an alternative app marketplace or Web Distribution — and those apps cannot use Apple In-App Purchase, so no App Store commission applies to them. On €100.00 the commission is €5.00 and the developer keeps €95.00. It replaces the old per-install Core Technology Fee from 1 October 2026, and Apple waives it for marketplace operators under €10 million in global revenue in the last 12 months and under €1 million in lifetime revenue from their marketplace app.
