The platform fee is charged on the total order value including any tax Lemon Squeezy collects, and the first row covers every payment method except PayPal. Payout fees are deducted from each payout, which Lemon Squeezy sends twice a month, so they are never part of a single order's fee.

How much does Lemon Squeezy take from a $100.00 order?
For card or another method in United States, Lemon Squeezy charges 5% of the amount plus a fixed $0.50. Each fee line is rounded half-up to the nearest cent, as the platform bills it, and what you keep is the amount minus the sum of those lines.
A US customer paying by card: on $100.00 you pay $5.50 (platform fee — card payment), and keep $94.50, an effective rate of 5.5%.
The same payment from a buyer abroad: on $100.00 you pay $5.50 (platform fee — card payment) and $1.50 (international transaction surcharge), $7.00 in total, and keep $93.00, an effective rate of 7%.
The same $100 order paid with PayPal: on $100.00 you pay $7.00 (platform fee — PayPal payment), and keep $93.00, an effective rate of 7%.

How much does Lemon Squeezy take from a $100 sale?
- For a US customer paying by card, Lemon Squeezy charges 5% plus a fixed $0.50, which is $5.50 on a $100 order, leaving $94.50. A customer outside the US adds 1.5%, so the fee becomes $7.00 and you keep $93.00. Paying with PayPal instead of a card costs the same 1.5% again: $7.00 domestically, $8.50 from abroad.
Does Lemon Squeezy charge its fee on the tax as well?
- Yes. Lemon Squeezy states that the platform fee is calculated on the total order value and collected when the order is placed, and as merchant of record that total includes the VAT or sales tax it collects on your behalf. Its own example is a customer in France buying a $20.00 product with 20% VAT: the total is $24.00, and the platform fee of $0.50 plus 5% of the full $24.00 plus 1.5% for the international payment comes to $2.06.
What extra fees can Lemon Squeezy add to the 5% + 50¢?
- Three, and they stack additively on the base rate: 1.5% when the transaction is from outside the US, 1.5% when the customer pays with PayPal, and 0.5% when the payment is a subscription. A PayPal subscription payment from a customer abroad therefore costs 8.5% + $0.50. Lemon Squeezy also charges separately for two marketing features, payments recovered through abandoned-cart emails and affiliate referrals, which this calculator does not model.
Does Lemon Squeezy charge a fee to pay you out?
- Sometimes, and it comes off the payout rather than the order, so it is not in the per-order fee above. Payouts via Stripe are free to a bank account in the US and 1% per payout to a bank account outside it. Payouts via PayPal are a flat $0.50 in the US, or 3% capped at $30 outside it. Lemon Squeezy processes payouts twice a month, so one fee covers many orders.
Have Lemon Squeezy's fees changed since Stripe acquired it?
- Not on the pricing page. Lemon Squeezy was acquired by Stripe in 2024 and its pricing page now carries a banner linking to a "2026 Update: Lemon Squeezy + Stripe Managed Payments" post, but the page still publishes the same 5% + 50¢ transaction fee and states no change to the schedule, no redirect and no shutdown date. This page is re-verified at least every 60 days and will record any change in the changelog.
How do I set a price so I keep a specific amount?
- Switch the calculator to "I want to net" and enter the amount you want to keep. It finds the smallest total price whose net, after the platform fee and any surcharge you have selected, lands within one cent of your target. Remember that the price you set is the total the customer is charged, so where Lemon Squeezy adds tax on top for a customer's country, the fee is charged on the larger figure.
