Paddle charges in USD; your bank’s conversion is not included.

Paddle may add a conversion margin when your payout currency differs from your Balance Currency. It is charged on the payout, so it applies to what is left after the checkout fee.

A flat fee when your payout currency is not your bank's local currency and the transfer has to go by SWIFT. Counted here as if this transaction were paid out on its own.

Paddle fees by country

Every rule on Paddle’s official schedule for United States, the market this calculator covers, as of 4 September 2026. Paddle publishes no cap on the checkout fee: the 5% + $0.50 is charged in full however large the sale. This is the published pay-as-you-go rate — Paddle quotes custom pricing to sellers of products under $10 and to high or established volume — and the two payout charges below apply when money leaves your balance, not at checkout, so the calculator counts them as if this one sale were paid out on its own.

How much does Paddle take from a $50.00 sale?

For goods and services in United States, Paddle charges 5% of the amount plus a fixed $0.50. Each fee line is rounded half-up to the nearest cent, as the platform bills it, and what you keep is the amount minus the sum of those lines.

A $50 sale, one checkout transaction: on $50.00 you pay $3.00 (checkout transaction fee (all-inclusive, merchant of record)), and keep $47.00, an effective rate of 6%.

A $9.99 sale, where the fixed 50¢ weighs most: on $9.99 you pay $1.00 (checkout transaction fee (all-inclusive, merchant of record)), and keep $8.99, an effective rate of 10.01%.

A $1,000 sale, with nothing capping the 5%: on $1,000.00 you pay $50.50 (checkout transaction fee (all-inclusive, merchant of record)), and keep $949.50, an effective rate of 5.05%.

The $50 sale again, paid out on its own by international wire: on $50.00 you pay $3.00 (checkout transaction fee (all-inclusive, merchant of record)) and $15.00 (international wire payout fee (currency mismatch)), $18.00 in total, and keep $32.00, an effective rate of 36%.

The $50 sale paid out in a currency other than your Balance Currency: on $50.00 you pay $3.00 (checkout transaction fee (all-inclusive, merchant of record)) and $0.71 (payout currency conversion margin (up to)), $3.71 in total, and keep $46.29, an effective rate of 7.42%.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Paddle take from a $50 sale?

$3.00 — the 5% on $50.00 plus the fixed $0.50 — leaving you $47.00, an effective rate of 6%. That single line is the whole checkout bill: Paddle is the merchant of record, so there is no separate processor to pay and no monthly fee.

Does Paddle cap its 5%?

No. Paddle publishes no cap, so the percentage keeps running at any price. A $1,000 sale costs $50.50 and leaves you $949.50, an effective 5.05%. The rate falls toward 5% as the price rises, because the fixed $0.50 shrinks against the total, but it never stops.

What does the 5% + 50¢ actually cover?

Paddle sells it as one all-inclusive rate per checkout transaction: card processing, global sales-tax and VAT compliance, fraud screening and chargebacks, subscription billing and buyer support. Because Paddle is the merchant of record it is the seller of record to the buyer and to the tax authority, which is what you are paying for over a plain payment processor.

Why does a cheap product cost so much proportionally?

The fixed $0.50. On a $9.99 sale the fee is $1.00 and you keep $8.99, an effective 10.01% — nearly twice the headline rate. Paddle says it quotes custom pricing for sellers of products under $10, so the published rate may not be the one such a seller is offered.

Are there fees when Paddle pays me out?

Two, and both depend on your circumstances rather than on the sale. Paddle charges a flat $15.00 wire fee when your payout currency is not your bank's local currency and the transfer has to go by SWIFT, and reserves the right to add a conversion margin of up to 1.5% when you take a payout in a currency other than your Balance Currency. Switched on for a single $50 sale paid out on its own, the wire fee alone takes the bill to $18.00 and your net to $32.00, which is why batching payouts matters.

What should I price a product at to net $50?

$53.16, on which the fee is $3.16. Adding 5% and 50¢ to your target is not enough, because both are charged on the higher price. The calculator's "I want to net" mode solves it to within a cent.
