GOAT fees by country
Every rule on GOAT’s official schedule for the 2 countries this calculator covers, as of 4 September 2026. GOAT charges the seller the same wherever the buyer is. Every amount is stated in US dollars, the Canadian ones included, so nothing is converted. The $5 seller fee is the prepaid-shipping figure: GOAT waives it for an item dropped off in person, which is not priced here. Sellers outside the United States and Canada pay a different seller fee and are out of scope.
| Fee | Applies to | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Commission — seller rating 90+All sellers start at a rating of 90. Cancellations cost 10 rating points each; successful sales add 2 points back. GOAT states all dollar figures on this page in US dollars, including the Canadian seller fee amounts, so this calculator treats both US and CA sellers as USD-denominated (no separate CAD table is published). | 90 or above | 9.5% |
| Commission — seller rating 70–89 | 70 to 89 | 15% |
| Commission — seller rating 50–69 | 50 to 69 | 20% |
| Commission — seller rating below 50GOAT states a rating below 50 may also trigger an account review that can lead to suspension, separate from the fee increase. | Below 50 | 25% |
| Seller fee (prepaid shipping)GOAT waives this to $0 when the seller drops the item off in person at a GOAT-designated location instead of shipping it in; that drop-off alternative is not modeled as a separate rule here since docs/02 scopes this platform to "seller fee by region," but is stated verbatim on the primary source ("United States (drop-off): $0") for a later engine author who wants to add it as a toggle. Outside the US and Canada, GOAT lists a per-country/territory seller fee (e.g. United Kingdom $2–$5, Australia $8, Other $30) that is out of this platform's scope (US and CA only). | All payments | $5.00 |

How much does GOAT take from a $200.00 sale?
For 90 or above in United States, GOAT charges 9.5% of the amount (commission — seller rating 90+) plus a fixed $5.00 (seller fee (prepaid shipping)). Each fee line is rounded half-up to the nearest cent, as the platform bills it, and what you keep is the amount minus the sum of those lines.
A US sale at a seller rating of 90 or above: on $200.00 you pay $19.00 (commission — seller rating 90+) and $5.00 (seller fee (prepaid shipping)), $24.00 in total, and keep $176.00, an effective rate of 12%.
The same sale at a seller rating of 70 to 89: on $200.00 you pay $30.00 (commission — seller rating 70–89) and $5.00 (seller fee (prepaid shipping)), $35.00 in total, and keep $165.00, an effective rate of 17.5%.
A Canadian seller at a rating of 90 or above: on $200.00 you pay $24.80 (commission — seller rating 90+) and $5.00 (seller fee (prepaid shipping)), $29.80 in total, and keep $170.20, an effective rate of 14.9%.
A $1,000 sale, where the flat $5 fee matters less: on $1,000.00 you pay $95.00 (commission — seller rating 90+) and $5.00 (seller fee (prepaid shipping)), $100.00 in total, and keep $900.00, an effective rate of 10%.
Frequently asked questions
How much does GOAT take from a $200 sale?
- At a seller rating of 90 or above a US seller pays 9.5% commission, which is $19.00, plus the flat $5 seller fee: $24.00 of fees, leaving $176.00 of the $200.00 and an effective rate of 12%. A Canadian seller is charged 12.4% instead, so the fees are $29.80 and the payout is $170.20.
How does my GOAT seller rating change the fee?
- It is the single biggest lever on this page. In the United States the commission is 9.5% at a rating of 90 or above, 15% between 70 and 89, 20% between 50 and 69 and 25% below 50; the Canadian ladder is 12.4%, 17.9%, 22.9% and 27.9%. On the same $200 sale that is $24.00, $35.00, $45.00 or $55.00 of total US fees. Every seller starts at 90, a cancellation costs ten rating points and a completed sale earns two back.
What is GOAT's $5 seller fee?
- A flat charge per sale, priced by where the seller lives rather than by what the item sold for: $5 in both the United States and Canada when you ship the item in with prepaid shipping. GOAT publishes a $0 seller fee for an item dropped off in person at a designated location instead; that waiver is not priced here, so the calculator always shows the $5 case.
Do Canadian sellers pay more on GOAT?
- Yes, 2.9 points more at every rating step. At 90 or above it is 12.4% against 9.5%, so a $200 sale costs $29.80 in fees and pays out $170.20 rather than $24.00 and $176.00. GOAT states all of these amounts in US dollars, the Canadian ones included, and publishes no Canadian dollar schedule, so nothing is converted.
Why do cheap sneakers cost proportionally more to sell?
- Because the $5 seller fee does not shrink with the price. An $80 sale pays $12.60 in fees and leaves $67.40, an effective rate of 15.75%; a $1,000 sale on exactly the same schedule pays $100.00 and leaves $900.00, which is 10%. The commission percentage is identical in both cases.
How do I price a GOAT listing so I keep a round number?
- Switch the calculator to "I want to net" and enter the amount you want to keep. To keep $200.00 at a seller rating of 90 or above the sale has to reach $226.52, with $26.52 of fees. Adding 9.5% to $200 lands short, because the commission is charged on the higher price too and the $5 seller fee comes off as well.
