Podia fees explained: what it takes in 2026

Podia charges a 5% transaction fee on sales made on its entry-level Mover plan, and no platform fee at all on the Shaker and Earthquaker plans. Whichever plan you are on, your payment processor — Stripe or PayPal — separately charges about 2.9% + $0.30 of every payment on your own account. This guide sets out both as Podia publishes them, with worked examples computed by the same engine as the Podia fee calculator. What Podia charges on a sale

That is the whole of Podia's own per-sale schedule. Nothing in it varies with what you sell, where the buyer is, or how they pay.

On a $100 sale on the Mover plan, the fee on $100.00 is $5.00 and you keep $95.00, an effective rate of 5%.

The processor's fee is not Podia's

Podia does not hold your money. Stripe or PayPal charges you directly on your own connected account, and Podia's pricing page puts that at 2.9% + $0.30 while saying the rate "may vary based on your location". It applies on every plan, including the two that carry no Podia fee, which is why the calculator counts it as an option you switch on rather than as part of the headline rate.

On the same $100 sale with the processor's fee counted, the fee on $100.00 is $8.20 ($5.00 podia fee — Mover plan plus $3.20 payment processor fee (Stripe/PayPal)) and you keep $91.80, an effective rate of 8.2%. On a $100 sale on the Shaker plan, where Podia takes nothing, the fee on $100.00 is $3.20 and you keep $96.80, an effective rate of 3.2%.

The difference between those two is Podia's 5%, and nothing else.

What a fee-free plan does not tell you

Shaker and Earthquaker remove the transaction fee in exchange for a higher monthly subscription. That subscription is a fixed cost rather than a cut of a sale, no fee rule states it, and this calculator prices one sale at a time — so it never appears in the totals here. To choose between plans, multiply 5% by the sales you expect in a month and weigh the answer against the difference in subscription price on Podia's own pricing page.

On a $49 course sale on the Mover plan, the fee on $49.00 is $4.17 ($2.45 podia fee — Mover plan plus $1.72 payment processor fee (Stripe/PayPal)) and you keep $44.83, an effective rate of 8.51%.

Pricing so you keep a round number

Both fees come out of what the buyer pays, so adding them to the amount you want lands short. Work backwards instead:

• Mover, processor counted: To keep $100.00 you charge $108.91, and the fee is $8.91.
• Shaker, processor counted: To keep $100.00 you charge $103.30, and the fee is $3.30.

The calculator's "I want to net" mode does the same for any amount and any plan.

What this guide leaves out

The verified schedule covers a US seller pricing in US dollars: the three plans' transaction fees, and the payment-processor rate Podia publishes alongside them. Out of scope are what each plan costs per month, which is a subscription and not a per-sale fee; the processor's own variations by country and payment method, which Podia flags but does not enumerate; and anything Stripe or PayPal charges you outside the sale itself.

When these rates last changed

Podia publishes its fees as a live page with no effective date of its own, so this schedule is dated from the day it was checked: 4 September 2026. The plan rates are stated identically on the pricing page and in Podia's help-centre article, which is why confidence is high. The processor rate is Podia's own estimate of somebody else's price, and it was not checked against Stripe's or PayPal's schedules. The Podia fee changelog holds the single entry so far; later changes are added there with the date and the rule affected, and the schedule is re-verified every 60 days.
