Gumroad fees by country
Every rule on Gumroad’s official schedule for United States, the market this calculator covers, as of 3 September 2026. Gumroad publishes no separate payment-processing, listing or payout fee, so none is shown here; the rates above are what its pricing page states as the whole per-transaction fee. Sales tax and VAT are collected from the buyer by Gumroad as merchant of record and are not a seller fee.
| Fee | Applies to | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Direct sales (profile or direct link)Gumroad's pricing page states this as the all-in rate for sales that do not come through Discover; the page does not itemize a separate card-processing charge on top of it. | Direct sales | 10% + $0.50 |
| Gumroad Discover (marketplace)Charged instead of the 10% + $0.50 direct rate when a new customer finds and buys the product through Gumroad's own Discover marketplace rather than the seller's profile or a direct link. | Discover sales | 30% |

How much does Gumroad take from a $100.00 sale?
For direct sales in United States, Gumroad charges 10% of the amount plus a fixed $0.50. Each fee line is rounded half-up to the nearest cent, as the platform bills it, and what you keep is the amount minus the sum of those lines.
A direct sales sale: on $100.00 you pay $10.50 (direct sales (profile or direct link)), and keep $89.50, an effective rate of 10.5%.
The same sale found through Gumroad Discover: on $100.00 you pay $30.00 (Gumroad Discover (marketplace)), and keep $70.00, an effective rate of 30%.
A $5 direct sale, where the fixed $0.50 weighs most: on $5.00 you pay $1.00 (direct sales (profile or direct link)), and keep $4.00, an effective rate of 20%.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Gumroad take from a $100 sale?
- It depends on where the sale came from. Through your own profile or a direct link you share, Gumroad's fee is 10% + $0.50. When a new customer finds and buys the product through the Gumroad Discover marketplace, it is 30% instead, with no fixed part. The calculator above works the exact cents for either case at any price.
What is the difference between Gumroad's 10% and 30% rates?
- Only where the buyer came from. Gumroad's pricing page prices 10% + $0.50 "per transaction for all sales through your profile or direct links to your customers", and 30% "per transaction when new customers find and buy from you through our discover marketplace". The two are alternatives on a given sale, never added together.
Does Gumroad charge a monthly, listing or insertion fee?
- No. Gumroad's pricing page answers this directly: "Unlike other platforms, Gumroad doesn't charge you a monthly fee. Instead, our fees are deducted as a small percentage of every sale." Its Terms of Service add that Gumroad "does not assess or collect 'listing' or 'insertion' fees" and takes its fee out of the buyer's payment before settling the rest to you.
Is there a separate payment-processing fee on top?
- Not one that Gumroad publishes. Neither the pricing page nor the Terms of Service states a card-processing charge separate from the per-transaction fee, so this calculator adds none. Figures circulating elsewhere that bolt a processing percentage onto the 10% are third-party estimates; this page uses only what Gumroad states itself, and says so rather than guessing.
How do I price a product so I keep a specific amount?
- Switch the calculator to "I want to net" and enter what you want to keep. It finds the lowest price whose payout, after the rate for the sale origin you picked, lands within one cent of your target. Adding 10% to your target undershoots, because the fee is charged on the higher price too, and the $0.50 has to be covered as well.
Are these Gumroad fees up to date?
- Both rates are quoted verbatim from Gumroad's official pricing page and were verified on 3 September 2026; the schedule is re-checked at least every 60 days. It is marked medium confidence: Gumroad's Terms of Service confirm the mechanism, a per-transaction fee deducted from the buyer's payment with no listing fee, but do not restate the 10% + $0.50 and 30% figures, which come from the pricing page alone.
