How much does Mercari take from a $100.00 sale?
For goods and services in United States, Mercari charges 10% of the amount. There is no payment processing fee. Each fee line is rounded half-up to the nearest cent, as the platform bills it, and what you keep is the amount minus the sum of those lines.
A goods and services sale: on $100.00 you pay $10.00 (selling fee) and $0.00 (payment processing fee), $10.00 in total, and keep $90.00, an effective rate of 10%.
The same $100 item with $9 of buyer-paid shipping: on $100.00 you pay $10.90 (selling fee) and $0.00 (payment processing fee), $10.90 in total, and keep $89.10, an effective rate of 10.9%.
A $25 item where the buyer paid $5 of shipping: on $25.00 you pay $3.00 (selling fee) and $0.00 (payment processing fee), $3.00 in total, and keep $22.00, an effective rate of 12%.

How much does Mercari take from a $100 sale?
- Mercari charges a 10% selling fee, so a $100 item with free shipping costs you $10.00 and you keep $90.00. If the buyer also paid $9 of shipping, the 10% is charged on the combined $109.00, so the fee is $10.90 and you keep $89.10 of the item price. There is nothing else deducted: no listing fee, no payment processing fee, and no charge to cash out by direct deposit.
Does Mercari charge a listing fee?
- No. Mercari's fees page states that listing an item is always free and that fees are charged when an item sells or when a service is used. You can list as many items as you like, leave them up indefinitely and relist them without paying anything; the 10% selling fee only applies once an item actually sells.
Does Mercari charge the 10% fee on shipping?
- Yes, when the buyer pays for shipping. Mercari's fees page says the 10% selling fee applies to "the combined amount of item price and buyer-paid shipping", so a shipping charge the buyer covers is part of the fee base even though the money goes to the carrier rather than to you. Enter the shipping the buyer paid in the calculator's shipping field to see the effect. If you cover shipping yourself or offer it free, leave it at zero and the fee is 10% of the item price alone.
Who pays the Mercari Buyer Protection fee?
- The buyer does. Mercari charges a Buyer Protection fee of 3.6% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, added to the buyer's total at checkout and displayed as part of the final price. It is never deducted from the seller's proceeds, so this calculator lists it in the fee table but does not subtract it from your net. It raises what your buyer pays, not what you receive.
Does Mercari still charge a payment processing fee?
- No. Mercari's fees page states that, effective 6 January 2025, it no longer charges buyers a payment processing fee at the time of purchase on new or updated listings. The old fee was $0.50 plus 2.9% of the transaction price and was charged to the buyer rather than deducted from the seller, so its removal lowered the buyer's total rather than raising your payout. The calculator shows it as a $0.00 line so the change stays visible.
How do I price a Mercari listing so I keep a round number?
- Adding 10% to the amount you want is not enough, because the fee is charged on the higher price. Switch the calculator to "I want to net" and enter your target: to keep $100 on an item with free shipping you list it at $111.11, and the fee is $11.11. If the buyer pays shipping, the fee base grows, so enter that shipping amount too and the target price rises to cover it.
