Stripe fees by country
Every rule on Stripe’s official schedule for the 6 countries this calculator covers, as of 5 September 2026. In the United Kingdom and the euro area the rate for a card issued abroad replaces the domestic rate; everywhere else it is added to it. The conversion rate differs by market, so never carry one country's figure across to another. The alternative payment methods below the card rows are priced for a United States account only, because Stripe's payment-method pricing page has been captured for the United States and not yet for the other five markets; each of them also carries “+1.5% for international transactions” on that page, which is not modelled here, and Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, Cash App Pay, Click to Pay, Alipay and WeChat Pay are priced at the card rate rather than separately. Australia is left out because Stripe has announced new Australian pricing and publishes no figure for the rate in force until 1 October 2026. Premium UK and EEA card tiers, the surcharge for manually keyed-in cards, dispute and failed-payment charges and Canada's instant-verification fee are not modelled, and the schedule is medium confidence because no independent official page restates the rates.
Australia is not in the calculator yet: every rate published for it takes effect on 1 October 2026.

How much does Stripe take from a $100.00 payment?
For card payment in United States, Stripe charges 2.9% of the amount plus a fixed $0.30. Each fee line is rounded half-up to the nearest cent, as the platform bills it, and what you keep is the amount minus the sum of those lines.
A domestic card payment in the United States: on $100.00 you pay $3.20 (card payments (US domestic cards)), and keep $96.80, an effective rate of 3.2%.
The same payment from a buyer abroad: on $100.00 you pay $3.20 (card payments (US domestic cards)) and $1.50 (international card surcharge), $4.70 in total, and keep $95.30, an effective rate of 4.7%.
The same payment taken with Klarna: on $100.00 you pay $6.29 (klarna), and keep $93.71, an effective rate of 6.29%.
Taken with Cash App Afterpay: on $100.00 you pay $6.30 (Cash App Afterpay), and keep $93.70, an effective rate of 6.3%.
The same payment taken by ACH Direct Debit: on $100.00 you pay $0.80 (ACH Direct Debit), and keep $99.20, an effective rate of 0.8%.
Instant Bank Payments through Link: on $100.00 you pay $2.90 (Instant Bank Payments (Link)), and keep $97.10, an effective rate of 2.9%.
A UK business paid with a standard UK card: on £100.00 you pay £1.70 (card payments (standard UK cards)), and keep £98.30, an effective rate of 1.7%.
A UK business paid with a card from outside the EEA: on £100.00 you pay £3.35 (international card surcharge (non-EEA cards)), and keep £96.65, an effective rate of 3.35%.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Stripe take from a $100 payment?
- For a US business taking a domestic card payment, Stripe charges 2.9% plus $0.30, which is $3.20 on $100 and leaves $96.80. A card issued abroad adds 1.5%, so the fee becomes $4.70 and you keep $95.30. The same $100 taken by ACH Direct Debit costs $0.80.
How much does Stripe charge for Klarna?
- On a US Stripe account, 5.99% plus $0.30 per successful Klarna payment, which is $6.29 on $100 and leaves $93.71 — close to twice the $3.20 the same payment costs on a domestic card. Klarna publishes no standalone merchant rate of its own, so this is the rate that actually applies when you take Klarna through Stripe. Stripe prices Klarna by the customer's market and the calculator uses the United States and Canada tier.
What does Stripe charge for Affirm, Afterpay and the other buy-now-pay-later methods?
- For a US account: Affirm's Standard tier and Cash App Afterpay are both 6% plus $0.30, which is $6.30 on $100; Sunbit is the same; Scalapay is 5.99% plus $0.45; and Zip's “Pay in 4” with a customer fee is 4.5% plus $0.30, the cheapest of the six at $4.80 on $100. Affirm also has an Enhanced tier at 7.99% plus $0.30 that is not priced here.
Which payment methods can I price here?
- All 29 that Stripe prices for a United States account: cards, ACH Direct Debit, Instant Bank Payments through Link, the six buy-now-pay-later rails, the European and Latin American bank methods (SEPA, Bacs, Canadian pre-authorized debits, iDEAL, Bancontact, BLIK, EPS, Bizum, Przelewy24, Pay by Bank, USD and EUR bank transfers, Pix, UPI, MB WAY), Satispay, the Multibanco and OXXO vouchers, stablecoins and the South Korean bundle. Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, Cash App Pay, Click to Pay, Alipay and WeChat Pay are all priced at the card rate, so choose Card payment for those. The other five markets have cards, their own bank rail and nothing else until Stripe's payment-method page is captured for each of them.
Does Stripe charge more for cards issued abroad?
- Yes, and in two different shapes. The United States adds 1.5% to its domestic rate, Canada 0.8%, Singapore 0.5% and the United Arab Emirates 1%. The United Kingdom and the euro area instead restate the whole price by where the card was issued: 2.5% plus the fixed fee for a card from the neighbouring market (an EEA card in the UK, a UK card in the euro area) and 3.15% plus the fixed fee for a card from anywhere else.
How much is Stripe's currency conversion fee?
- 1% in the United States and the United Arab Emirates, 2% in the United Kingdom, the euro area, Canada and Singapore. It is charged on top of the payment's own rate whenever the money has to be converted into your settlement currency, so a US business converting a $100 card payment pays $4.20 in total instead of $3.20. Never carry one market's conversion rate across to another.
What does Stripe charge for a bank debit?
- US ACH Direct Debit is 0.8% capped at $5.00, so $0.80 on a $100 payment. UK Bacs Direct Debit is 1% with a minimum of £0.20 and a £4.00 cap, SEPA Direct Debit in the euro area is a flat €0.35, and Canadian pre-authorized debits are 1% plus CA$0.40 capped at CA$5.00. Canada's instant-verification and failed-debit charges are not included here.
Why can't I select Australia?
- Stripe has announced new Australian pricing that takes effect on 1 October 2026 and publishes no figure for the rate in force until then. Rather than show a rate that is already superseded, this page states the date and leaves Australia out until the new schedule applies.
Are these Stripe fees up to date?
- Every rate is quoted from Stripe's pricing page for that country and carries the date it was checked: 5 September 2026 for the United States payment methods, 4 September 2026 for the other markets' card and bank rates. Because Stripe publishes no second official page restating the per-country rates, this schedule is recorded as medium confidence; it is re-verified at least every 60 days and whenever Stripe announces a change.

Every rate above is quoted from Stripe’s official fee page and checked by a person on . Alternative payment methods added from stripe.com/us/pricing/local-payment-methods (redirects to stripe.com/pricing/local-payment-methods), captured twice on 2026-09-05 in US dollars; the two captures agree line for line but are the same page, so there is still no independent secondary source and the schedule stays medium confidence. The page prices every method for a US account in USD; the equivalent country-path pages for GB, EU, CA, SG and AE were not captured, so the new methods are priced for the United States only. Every method also carries '+1.5% for international transactions', which is not modelled for non-card rails. at support.stripe.com/questions/stripe-pricing-fees. Single source: not every rate is restated by a second official page, so some rest on the official page alone.
Standard published rates only. Your account may have negotiated, promotional or legacy pricing, and the platform can change fees at any time. Confirm figures that matter with Stripe before relying on them. See the methodology and disclaimer.
