Venmo fees by country
Every rule on Venmo’s official schedule for United States, the market this calculator covers, as of 3 September 2026. Venmo is US-only and publishes no international rate. The 3% credit-card fee is charged to the sender rather than deducted from your payout, and payments to a business profile are exempt from it.
| Fee | Applies to | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Goods and services (personal profile)This is the rate for a personal-profile payment the sender tags as goods and services. It carries no fixed fee on the official page (unlike the business-profile rate below). Single-sourced: the Help Center's business-profile article does not restate this rate. | Goods and services (personal profile) | 2.99% |
| Business profile transaction feeTap to Pay payments to a business profile are charged a higher rate instead of the standard one, and Venmo's two pages disagree on the fixed part: the fees page says 2.29% + $0.09, the Help Center article says 2.29% + $0.10. Tap to Pay is out of this calculator's scope. | Business profile | 1.9% + $0.10 |
| Optional and sender-paid fees (not deducted unless selected) | ||
| Instant transfer to a bank account or debit card | All payments | 1.75% (max $25.00) |
| Standard bank transfer | All payments | No fee |
| Credit card funding fee (paid by the sender)Paid by the person sending the payment when they fund it with a credit card, not deducted from the seller's proceeds. The business-profile article corroborates the 3% rate by describing when it is waived. | All payments | 3% |

How much does Venmo take from a $100.00 payment?
For goods and services (personal profile) in United States, Venmo charges 2.99% of the amount. There is no standard bank transfer. Each fee line is rounded half-up to the nearest cent, as the platform bills it, and what you keep is the amount minus the sum of those lines.
A goods and services (personal profile) payment: on $100.00 you pay $2.99 (goods and services (personal profile)) and $0.00 (standard bank transfer), $2.99 in total, and keep $97.01, an effective rate of 2.99%.
The same sale to a business profile: on $100.00 you pay $2.00 (business profile transaction fee) and $0.00 (standard bank transfer), $2.00 in total, and keep $98.00, an effective rate of 2%.
Cashing the proceeds out with Instant Transfer: on $100.00 you pay $2.99 (goods and services (personal profile)) and $1.70 (instant transfer to a bank account or debit card), $4.69 in total, and keep $95.31, an effective rate of 4.69%.
A $10 sale cashed out instantly, where the $0.25 minimum bites: on $10.00 you pay $0.30 (goods and services (personal profile)) and $0.25 (instant transfer to a bank account or debit card), $0.55 in total, and keep $9.45, an effective rate of 5.5%.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Venmo take from a $100 sale?
- If the buyer marks the payment as goods and services and it lands in your personal profile, Venmo takes 2.99%, which is $2.99 on $100, and you keep $97.01. There is no fixed fee on that rate. A payment to a business profile is charged 1.9% plus a fixed $0.10 instead, so $2.00 on $100, and you keep $98.00.
Does Venmo charge a fee to receive money?
- Not for a personal payment from another Venmo user: those are free to receive. You are charged only when the money is for a sale, which means the sender identified the payment as for goods and services (2.99%) or sent it to your business profile (1.9% + $0.10). Venmo does not refund seller fees when you refund the buyer.
How much is the Venmo instant transfer fee?
- Moving money out of your Venmo balance to a linked bank account or debit card with Instant Transfer costs 1.75% of the amount you transfer, with a minimum of $0.25 and a maximum of $25. The standard transfer costs nothing and typically takes one to three business days to a bank account, or about 48 hours to an eligible debit card.
Who pays the 3% Venmo credit card fee?
- The sender does. Venmo charges the person paying 3.00% when they fund a payment with a credit card, and it is not deducted from what you receive, so this calculator does not subtract it from your net. Venmo exempts payments made to a business profile from that 3% credit-card fee.
Can I use Venmo to get paid from outside the United States?
- No. Venmo's user agreement requires you to be in the United States and to have a US bank account, so there is no international seller rate and no currency conversion on money you receive. A US Venmo user can send money to a non-US PayPal account, but that fee is paid by the sender, not by you as the seller.
Are these Venmo fees up to date?
- Every rate here is quoted verbatim from Venmo's official fees page, which carries no stated effective date, and was checked on 3 September 2026. The business-profile rate and the credit-card fee are corroborated by Venmo's Help Center; the other rates appear on the fees page alone, so this schedule is marked medium confidence and is re-verified at least every 60 days.
