Patreon fees by country
Every rule on Patreon’s official schedule for United States, the market this calculator covers, as of 3 September 2026. Patreon prices creators on one worldwide schedule rather than per country, so this table is the US/USD version of it. The processing rates are the credit-card and Apple Pay row; a PayPal or Venmo payment from a patron outside the US costs more on every plan. Only the standard plan is open to new creators.
| Fee | Applies to | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Platform fee — Standard plan | Standard plan | 10% |
| Platform fee — Founders plan (legacy)Founders is closed to new creators as of 7 May 2019 and requires the creator to not have changed plan, changed payout currency, or had their page unpublished since. | Founders plan (legacy) | 5% |
| Platform fee — Pro plan (legacy)Closed to creators who publish a page after 4 August 2025; those creators are placed on the standard 10% plan instead. | Pro plan (legacy) | 8% |
| Platform fee — Pro + Merch plan (legacy)Closed to creators who publish a page after 4 August 2025; those creators are placed on the standard 10% plan instead. | Pro + Merch plan (legacy) | 11% |
| Payment processing — Standard planPayPal/Venmo from a non-US member is 3.9% + $0.30 on this plan; card and domestic PayPal/Venmo are both 2.9% + $0.30. Rate does not vary by pledge size on this plan. | Standard plan | 2.9% + $0.30 |
| Payment processing — Founders plan (legacy)PayPal/Venmo on Founders is 2.65% + $0.28. Founders processing rates are USD-only and not tiered by pledge size. A Founders creator who changes payout currency keeps the 5% platform fee but loses these reduced processing rates. | Founders plan (legacy) | 1.6% + $0.30 |
| Payment processing — Pro plan (legacy)PayPal/Venmo (US) matches the card rate; PayPal/Venmo (non-US) is 6% + $0.10 at or under $3 and 3.9% + $0.30 above it. The $3 threshold is the tier/pledge price and includes $3.00 itself in the micropayment bracket. | Pro plan (legacy) | 5% + $0.10 up to $3.00, then 2.9% + $0.30 |
| Payment processing — Pro + Merch plan (legacy)The page's legacy-plan processing-rate table does not distinguish Pro from Pro + Merch; both use this schedule. PayPal/Venmo variance is as noted on the Pro rule. | Pro + Merch plan (legacy) | 5% + $0.10 up to $3.00, then 2.9% + $0.30 |
| Optional and sender-paid fees (not deducted unless selected) | ||
| Currency conversion feeApplies only when a member pays in a currency other than the creator's payout currency; calculated on the full processed amount including tax. | All payments | 2.5% |
| Payout fee — Direct deposit (Stripe)US creators only; not available to creators based in the US Virgin Islands or other US territories/possessions except Puerto Rico. | All payments | $0.25 |
| Payout fee — PayPalPayPal may add its own fees for moving the payout onward to a bank account. $10 minimum balance to trigger a payout. | All payments | 1% (max $20.00) |
| Payout fee — Payoneer Wallet$25 minimum balance to trigger a payout. Payoneer may add its own fees for moving funds onward. | All payments | $1.00 |
| iOS App Store fee (replaces payment processing)Applies only to eligible purchases made through Apple's in-app purchase system in the Patreon iOS app; it replaces the payment-processing fee for that transaction, but the platform fee still applies. US web/mobile-web checkout is not subject to this fee. | All payments | 30% |

How much does Patreon take from a $100.00 payment?
For standard plan in United States, Patreon charges 10% of the amount (platform fee — Standard plan) plus 2.9% of the amount plus a fixed $0.30 (payment processing — Standard plan). Each fee line is rounded half-up to the nearest cent, as the platform bills it, and what you keep is the amount minus the sum of those lines.
A standard plan payment: on $100.00 you pay $10.00 (platform fee — Standard plan) and $3.20 (payment processing — Standard plan), $13.20 in total, and keep $86.80, an effective rate of 13.2%.
A $5 monthly pledge, where the fixed $0.30 bites hardest: on $5.00 you pay $0.50 (platform fee — Standard plan) and $0.45 (payment processing — Standard plan), $0.95 in total, and keep $4.05, an effective rate of 19%.
The same payment on the legacy Founders plan: on $100.00 you pay $5.00 (platform fee — Founders plan (legacy)) and $1.90 (payment processing — Founders plan (legacy)), $6.90 in total, and keep $93.10, an effective rate of 6.9%.
A membership bought through the iOS app, where Apple's 30% replaces processing: on $100.00 you pay $10.00 (platform fee — Standard plan) and $30.00 (iOS App Store fee (replaces payment processing)), $40.00 in total, and keep $60.00, an effective rate of 40%.
Paid out to PayPal rather than a bank account: on $100.00 you pay $10.00 (platform fee — Standard plan), $3.20 (payment processing — Standard plan) and $0.87 (payout fee — PayPal), $14.07 in total, and keep $85.93, an effective rate of 14.07%.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Patreon take from creators?
- On the standard plan, which is the only one open to new creators, Patreon takes 10% of the income you earn on Patreon, and payment processing takes 2.9% plus $0.30 of each pledge on top of that. Three legacy plans are still running for creators who have kept them: Founders at 5%, Pro at 8%, and Pro + Merch at 11%. Founders pays 1.6% plus $0.30 in processing; the two Pro plans pay 5% plus $0.10 on pledges at or under $3 and 2.9% plus $0.30 above that.
Why do small Patreon pledges lose so much to fees?
- A $100 payment and a $5 payment both give up the same 10% platform fee and the same 2.9% processing rate; what separates them is the fixed $0.30 that every pledge carries whatever its size. That $0.30 weighs far more on a $3 pledge than on a $30 one, which is why the effective rate on small tiers looks so much worse. Set the amount above to your own tier price to see where your pledges land.
Can I still get Patreon's 5% or 8% plan?
- No. Founders, the 5% plan, has been unavailable to new creators since 7 May 2019, and a creator only keeps it by not changing plan since then. Pro at 8% and Pro + Merch at 11% became unavailable to creators publishing a page after 4 August 2025; anyone publishing after that date is on the standard 10% plan. The calculator keeps all four so a creator on a legacy plan can still price accurately.
Does Patreon charge more when a patron joins through the iOS app?
- Apple's in-app purchase system applies a 30% App Store fee to eligible purchases made in the Patreon iOS app. That fee replaces the payment-processing fee for that transaction rather than adding to it, and Patreon's own platform fee still applies. Tick "Membership bought in the iOS app" above to see the effect. Memberships bought on the web or on mobile web are not subject to it.
Does Patreon charge a fee to pay me out?
- Yes, and it is charged once per payout rather than per pledge. Direct deposit processed by Stripe costs $0.25 per payout for US creators. PayPal costs 1% with a minimum of $0.25 and a cap of $20, and needs a $10 balance to trigger a payout. A Payoneer Wallet payout costs $1.00 and needs a $25 balance. There is also a 2.5% currency conversion fee whenever a patron pays in a currency other than your payout currency.
Are these Patreon fees up to date?
- Every rate here is quoted verbatim from Patreon's official Creator fees overview article, which carries no page-wide effective date, and was checked on 3 September 2026. The 10% standard fee and the 5%, 8% and 11% legacy tiers are corroborated by Patreon's Pricing FAQ and its pricing page; the processing percentages and the payout-fee amounts appear on the fees overview alone, so this schedule is marked medium confidence and is re-verified at least every 60 days.
